Bognet Campaigns with Senator who wants to “Sunset” Social Security and Medicare

Scranton, Pa. — Today Jim Bognet campaigned with Senator Rick Scott. The same Rick Scott who released a plan to “sunset” Social Security and Medicare.

The campaign event comes days after Congressman Matt Cartwright said from the debate stage that Bognet would support Scott’s plan to put Social Security and Medicare on the chopping block.

In case you’re unfamiliar, going after Social Security and Medicare benefits is something that comes second nature to Jim Bognet.

  • Bognet has targeted Social Security and Medicare benefits for cuts, calling them, “the big enchilada” for reductions.
  • Bognet opposed lowering prescription drug costs for seniors, calling it “crazy.”
  • As a political hack who spent the last two decades away from northeastern Pennsylvania, Bogent developed policies for political candidates to cutprivatize, and destroy Social Security & Medicare

Bognet’s record stands in sharp contrast with Congressman Cartwright’s who received the endorsement of the “premier group that advocates preserving Social Security and Medicare.”

Cartwright campaign press secretary David Early issued the following statement:

“Jim Bognet continues telling us exactly who he is and what he will do if he makes it to Congress. Which is pushing the working people and seniors of our community to the side and slashing Social Security and Medicare and anything else his special interest and corporate backers tell him to do. Congressman Cartwright just yesterday was endorsed by the Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare, the choice in front of our community could not be more clear.”
