Scranton, PA – Congressman Matt Cartwright (D-PA-08) today issued the following statement on the 8th Congressional District primary election, in which he ran unopposed on the Democratic ticket:
“At a time when so many are struggling, northeastern Pennsylvanians need and deserve a strong voice in Washington with a record of working across the aisle, and finding solutions to the biggest issues we face,” Cartwright said. “Issues like our coronavirus response and economic recovery, improving access to healthcare, defending Social Security and Medicare and standing up for our veterans. I look forward to debating these issues in the coming months.
“I am humbled by the outpouring of support our campaign has received, despite the challenging times. Serving our area in Congress is an honor I have never taken for granted. I hope to earn your votes in November and continue the fight for everyone in northeastern Pennsylvania.”
Matt Cartwright represents Pennsylvania’s Eighth Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives and is seeking re-election for a fifth term.
