Lowering the Cost of Living

Matt ran for Congress to help regular working people get a better deal. Watching the stock market boom while families live paycheck to paycheck is unacceptable. It tells us that big corporations are profiting from squeezing extra dollars out of your wallet. From gas and groceries, to housing and healthcare, northeastern Pennsylvanians are being asked to do more with less. That’s why Matt’s leading efforts to take on the greed of corporate special interests who are trying to fatten their bottom lines by overcharging us. And he’s working to cut prices and put money back in the pockets of northeastern Pennsylvanians – to provide some much-needed breathing room.

Matt has a proven track record of standing up to companies that enrich themselves on the backs of consumers. With gas prices climbing, he’s supported legislation to allow the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and state attorneys general to crack down on big oil companies who are exploiting Americans by overcharging at the gas pump. He’s also notched key wins against drug companies, including capping insulin at $35 per month for seniors and limiting out-of-pocket prescription prices for Medicare beneficiaries at $2,000 per month beginning in 2025.

There’s more work to do to build an economy that works for all of us. Matt will continue to fight against corporate greed, and will advocate against junk fees that only serve to pad companies’ bottom lines at our expense. In the meantime though, northeastern Pennsylvanians need relief. The current tax system is stacked in favor of billionaires and big corporations; Matt supports cutting taxes for working people, while asking the rich to pay their fair share. He’s also been a staunch advocate for raising the minimum wage and supporting collective bargaining, to give northeastern Pennsylvanians a long-overdue raise.

Matt knows that no one works harder than the folks in northeastern Pennsylvania. His top priority is easing the burden on working families in our community.
